  THE KIRKBYS (and their later incarnation, 23rd TURNOFF) are correctly held in very high regard, although (like many great bands from the 60s period) their output was minimal and not commercially successful: the Kirkbys managed 3 45s (2 of which only appeared in Finland!) and the Turnoff just one astonishing single...
  
  And now there's this fantastic EP to add to that small but perfectly formed discography. 4 out of the 5 tracks here have NEVER been issued, and the fifth is presented in far superior sound quality to previous outings. "Michael Angelo" and "Keep Me Warm (‘Til The Sun Shines)" were recorded at Regent Sound in 1966 and the only known surviving copy was rescued from a recycling depot in Wales. "I’ll Be Round" has appeared before in only average quality; the recent surfacing of an acetate has allowed this brilliant performance to finally be heard in its intended glory. "It’s A Crime" is a different version to the single and "I’m Gonna Be A Big Star" was intended as a possible second UK single but was shelved. All five tracks have been restored to the best possible standards.
